rodeo_stockphotoRodeo week is here!  The 48th Annual Brown County Rodeo kicks off Thursday with a full lineup of events including the parade and dance.

The rodeo, which will be held June 9, 10 and 11 at the Earl Q. Wilson arena, is produced this year by Terry Walls and features Slim Garner as this year’s rodeo clown.  Coleman native and KRBC-News anchor Randy Turner is set as this year’s announcer. It will feature bull riding, bareback, saddle bronco, team roping, steer wrestling, calf roping, girls barrel racing and girls breakaway

Advance tickets are currently available at $8 for adults, $3 for kids at Scott’s Western Wear, TexasBank,  KOXE, and the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce.  Tickets at the gate will cost $10 and $5.  The rodeo starts at 8pm each night.

Saturday, June 11 will feature two rodeo traditions for Brown County, the morning parade and rodeo dance in the evening.

The Brown County Rodeo Parade will travel through Downtown Brownwood. This year’s parade is scheduled to begin on Saturday, June 11th at 10am.   Awards will be presented for best in-town float, best out of town float, riding club awards, best decorated vehicles, best antique vehicles, best horse drawn vehicles, and best bikes/unicycle. Brownwood Mayor Stephen Haynes will also select one entry for the Mayor’s Choice Award.

There is no fee to enter the parade.  Entry forms are available at www.brownwoodchamber.org.  Deadline for entry is Thursday, June 9th and forms may be returned to the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce office at 600 E. Depot Street.

To close out rodeo week, this year’s dance will be held on June 11 at 8:00pm at the Brownwood Coliseum and will feature the Zach Edwards Band and the Josh Abbott Band.   Doors will open at 7:00pm.  Tickets to the dance are $15 in advance or $20 at the door.
