teamcaptainsIn a cozy room full of volunteers, the Brown County Relay for Life organizers acknowledged the hard work of volunteers and generosity of donors which led to the 2010 Relay raising a record amount of $130,000.  The goal for this year’s event was $110,000.

“There was $20,000 raised just in sponsors on the t-shirts,” stated Margaret Carter, Brown County Relay’s 2010 Chairperson.

Carter spoke of the success of the Relay, not only in amount of funds raised, but also in the event participation being the best ever.   There were 35 committee members this year and close to 70 teams that helped contribute to the cause.

“There were more teams than ever that stayed through the night,” Carter said.

Some teams have already started raising money for the 2011 Relay as the 2010 event closed.

Carter, with the help of committee members, awarded plaques to the top 6 teams at a recognition ceremony Tuesday evening at Brownwood Regional Medical Center:

  • Team Josh – $7761
  • Vintage Rose – $7591
  • The Welch Family – $6180
  • Team Gillian – $5494
  • Fit By Faith – $4774
  • Brownwood Case Management – $3900
