After several weeks of budget workshops and departmental proposals, Brown County has drawn together their proposed budget for the next fiscal year.
This proposed budget, if approved, will encompass the 2009-2010 fiscal year which begins on October 1st for the county. The total proposed budget is in the amount of $14,653,081. This proposed budget will be presented to the County Commissioners in the coming weeks along with a public hearing so revisions are still possible.
The proposed budget states that is will raise more total property taxes than last years’ budget by $216,919 or 0.42% and of that amount, $199,874 is tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax rolls this year.
Commissioners will hold a second public hearing on Friday, September 18th at 9am regarding the adoption of the 2009 tax rate of 0.5227 per $100 valuation. The public is encouraged to attend.
