Brownwood News – The Brown County Museum of History is planning it’s 2nd annual celebration of local law enforcement and is giving kids a way to say thank you to all the men and women who protect Brownwood and Brown County.
Local children will be given an opportunity to create special “Thank you’s” fo give to men and women of our local law enforcement community.
The event is scheduled for Saturday the 27th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Museum.
The cost of the program is $3, which includes a tour of the old jail and a short educational program for the kids. All law enforcement professionals are admitted to the event free of charge.
“Thank You to the men and women in Blue, Grey & Brown” will provide all law enforcement agencies in Brown county with messages of thanks and support.
There will be a short meet and greet with the Museum’s board of directors before the event begins at 11.
Local Boy Scouts have once again been invited to attend the event this year.
Last years Thank You included a short presentation by Brown County Sheriff Vance Hill, a fingerprinting lesson for attendees and kids were allowed to get an up close look at Sheriff Hill’s squad car.
Attendees to this years event can expect a similar presentation, and there are a few extras planned to add to the Museum’s Thank You.
The Old Jail which houses the Museum is located downtown at 209 N. Broadway and was built in 1881 for $5,595 and updated in 1901 with the stone wall and iron fencing that can still be seen today. The first floor of the jail was originally designed to house the Sheriff and his family, with prisoners kept upstairs.
