Friday, May 11th

(no time noted) Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Shade Tidwell was dispatched to Idlewild Drive in reference to the theft of a Big Tex Utility Trailer and a Honda Riding Lawnmower.  There is no suspect at this time, and both the trailer and the lawnmower were entered into the TCIC/NCIC database as stolen.

(no time noted) Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Toby Mathis was contacted by Investigator Gover about a wanted person staying at the Budget Inn in Brownwood. After making contact, the deputy placed a man identified as Christopher Martinez in custody. According to the report 2.3 grams of Marijuana was located.

10:20 p.m. Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Jayson Bastardo was dispatched to the Law Enforcement Center in regards to theft. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with a complainant who stated two known individuals had stolen medication and jewelry from him.

Sunday, May 13th

11:05 a.m. Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Shade Tidwell spoke with a complainant in Abilene in regards to his mother opening an account using his information. A report was generated for Fraudulent Use / Possession of Identifying Information.

9:47 p.m. Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Simpson responded to Avenue B in Blanket in regards to terroristic threat. The complainant stated the suspect had threatened to “rip her throat out” on Facebook Messenger. The suspect resides in Polk County. The complainant advised she has also contacted the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

9:49 p.m. Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Jose Rodriguez was dispatched to CR 135 in Brownwood in regards to a burglary of habitation. The small window located on the front door was broken and about $200 worth of cash was missing from the residence. A report was made.

11:15 p.m. Early Police Officers responded to a call of a domestic violence call at an apartment in the 100 block of Sudderth Drive. Neighbors reported hearing screaming and the sounds of someone hitting the floor and walls in an apartment. When Officers arrived they also could hear screaming and yelling and loud crashing noises coming from the apartment. When officers made contact with the male and female inside, the male had a torn shirt and visible injuries along with scrape marks and redness on his face, chest and arms. The female, identified as Rowena Marie Coers, appeared intoxicated and had been detained during the investigation for assault family violence. Coers, while handcuffed, began screaming and trying to body slam herself into officers and then began kicking both EPD Corporal Sheedy and Highway Patrol Trooper Hoy. Coers then was able to grab and pinch one officer in the groin causing pain to the officer. Coers continued to kick and attempt to hit and slam her body in an uncontrollable rage while officers were taking her to the patrol car and until placed in the patrol car. Coers was taken to the Brown County Jail where she was booked into jail for 2 charges of assault on a public servant, resisting arrest and assault with bodily injury family violence. Both officers received minor injury during the incident but did not seek medical treatment at this time.
