The Brown County Commissioners Count held its regular session on Monday, November 16, 2009.
Commissioners discussed the possible exchange of property with the Bangs Economic Development Corporation for some future road construction at the intersection of US Hwy 67 and FM 586. Bangs Economic Development Corporation will purchase a 0.947 acre tract from the New Testament Holiness Church and in turn will trade the parcel of land to the county for a portion of Brown County Road 169.
County Judge Ray West said that trading the property in this way will simplify the transaction for the County instead of an outright purchase where an appraisal and other procedures would have to be conducted.
TxDOT will be in charge of construction of the new intersection after all of the land has been properly secured. The intersection is being reworked for safety reasons. See proposed road changes in the photo below.
In other county business:
-Commissioners approved a resolution to begin the process of accepting a $75,000 grant from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program. For more info on this grant, see our previous article HERE.
-Commissioners approved the Prairie Hill Subdivision.
-The county also approved a new credit card policy for the county for the use of county issued credit cards.
-Commissioners ended the session by canvassing votes with Election official Suzy Young from the recent election of the Texas proposed amendments.
