Written by Amanda Coers – The Brown County Clerk’s office received a “five-star” award from the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) for its work in recording vital statistics, such as birth, death, and marriage licenses.
Brown County Clerk, Sharon Ferguson, was very happy with the work of her staff. “These girls do an excellent job,” said Ferguson.
To qualify for this award, local registrars must meet timeliness, training and registration management criteria set by the TDSHS Vital Statistics Unit. The Brown County Clerk’s office has consistently won awards from TDSHS for several years.
The clerk’s office will also be saying goodbye to 20-year employee, Carol Holamon, who will be retiring. Before joining the clerk’s office, Holamon worked for General Telephone & Electric Corporation for 30 years.
“She’s an amazing employee,” said Ferguson. “I’ve been blessed to have her here. It will be tough to fill her shoes.”
