comptrollerlogo2Texas State Comptroller Glenn Hegar released sales tax allocation numbers for November which showed an increase in sales tax collections in Brown County cities of Brownwood, Early, Bangs and Blanket.  These increases were despite decreases in allocations statewide as compared to November of 2014.

The growth in allocations for Brownwood, Early, Bangs and Blanket keep Brown County cities in a positive growth pattern for the year to date numbers as well.  The largest increases in allocations were paid to Early and Blanket with increased allocations of 18.11% and 29.15% respectively.  Brownwood saw the largest dollar increase with a more than $39,000 increase from 2014.

Hegar said that sales tax revenue for the state in October was $2.28 billion, down 5.4 percent compared to October 2014.

“October state sales tax revenue was depressed, as expected, by declines in spending in oil and natural gas-related sectors,” Hegar said. “Other major sectors of the Texas economy, including construction, information, and services, continued to show growth in tax remittances.”

The sales tax figures are based on sales made in September by businesses that report tax monthly, and sales made in July, August, and September by businesses that report tax quarterly.
