Brown County Commissioners lifted the burn ban Monday at their regular meeting of the court.
The burn ban had been in place since August 10th is now lifted with this action of the court.
The area has seen heavy rains in the past month and conditions of the county were considered to be right to safely remove the ban. For controlled burns, citizens are asked to contact Brown County dispatch at 325-646-2525 to inform emergency personnel where outdoor burning will be located.
Citizens living in the city limits are reminded to obey the city ordinances regarding open fires within their respective municipalities.
In other matters on Monday’s agenda:
*Brown County Sheriff’s Captain Vance Hill received approval for employee changes.
*BCSO Captain Hill also received approval to purchase gas masks and canisters for the tactical team. 15 masks and canisters will be purchased at a cost of approximately $3500, according to Hill.*County Judge Ray West received approval for part time fill in employee for Brown County Maintenance.
*Judge West also received approval for a part time fill in employee for Brown County Court Administrator.
*County Auditor Nina Cox received approval of 2016 Brown County Indigent Defense Grant Program Participation Resolution.
