BROWN COUNTY 4-H COUNCIL INTERVIEWS
Are you interested in being a Youth Leader? Do you want to be someone that younger 4-Hers can look up to? Well here is your chance!!! County 4-H Council will be holding interviews for 2013 – 2014 officers on August 13th at the extension office. The Brown County 4-H Council is a leadership team that is elected through an application and interview process at the county level. Each of these 4-H members represents the 4-H program throughout the year at many different county and district events. Applications will be due August 5th. BRONZE, SILVER, OR GOLD STAR AWARDS
If you turned in a record book this year and interested in applying for the Bronze, Silver, or Gold Star Awards you will need to contact the Extension Office. The age groups for the awards are Bronze (Junior member), Silver (Intermediate member), and Gold (Senior member). 4-Hers that meet the criteria need to fill out an application and have it turned back into the Extension office by August 5th. Interviews will take place on August 13th at the Extension office. If you have any questions please contact Nick Gonzales.
DISTRICT 7 FALL MEETING
Every parent, leader and 4?H member is invited to attend the District 7 Fall Meeting. The Fall Meeting will take place on August 17, 2013 at Grape Creek Baptist Church, Grape Creek, Texas. The Project Development Committees, District Council and Adult Leaders Association will all meet on this day.
The District 7 Project Development Committees need you to be successful! The purpose of these district?wide committees is to develop project training opportunities for
specific projects, which are:
- Beef
- Clothing
- Consumer Education
- Foods & Nutrition
- Horse
- Photography
- Natural Resources
- Sheep/Goats
- Shooting Sports
- Swine
Each of these nine committees is made up of volunteers and youth interested in that project area. Each committee plans one educational training yearly to expand the educational opportunities in District 7. This is a great opportunity to gain new knowledge in your project area and work with other volunteers and youth from across the district.

BROWN COUNTY 4-H AWARDS BANQUET AND FUN DAY
Save the date for the upcoming Brown County 4-H Awards Banquet and Fun Day. The date is set for August 24, 2013. This year the Awards Banquet and Fun Day will be held at the Texas 4-H Center. There will be no cost to attend this year’s banquet. The banquet is open to everyone so bring some friends that are interested in 4-H. The deadline to RSVP for the banquet will be Friday, August 16, 2013.

If you have accomplished any award this past 4-H year please fill out a project form, which can be obtained through the extension office or email. The forms are due back to the extension office by August 12th.
STATE LAMB AND GOAT TAGS
It is that time again! If you are a 4-H member and planning on showing a Lamb, Breeding Sheep or Goat at any Major Stock Show such as Ft. Worth, San Antonio, Austin, San Angelo, or Houston you will need to purchase state tags. The costs of the tags are $10 per animal. The deadline to order tags is August 20th. If you are planning on purchasing a state lamb tag for San Angelo Stock Show you need to make sure that lamb is Texas Bred and has a Texas Lamb Breeders tag, which will come from the lamb breeder. You can order state tags by contacting the Extension Office.
WEST TEXAS FAIR AND STATE FAIR
It is that time already to start thinking about stock shows. The fall stock shows that are coming up are West Texas Fair and State Fair. The deadline to enter into the West Texas Fair and State Fair is August 8th. The entry forms are available at the Extension Office. If you have any questions please contact Nick Gonzales
WANT TO WIN $100???
Want to win $100.00 for our county 4-H program? If you want to help win $100.00 for our county 4-H program the District 7 4-H Volunteer Leaders Association is selling raffle tickets. For the county who sells the most wins $100.00. The raffle tickets are $5.00 a piece or 5 tickets for $20.00.
The tickets will be put into a drawing for a dove hunt for two with Executive Outfitters, Inc. The prize hunt will consist of two half-day hunts, two nights of lodging, and meals included. Headquartered at the Texas 4-H Center in Brownwood, Texas, they lease fields in Callahan, Brown, and Coleman Counties. Other prizes include $250 gift certificate at Safari Studios, $100 Stripes gift card, $100 gift card to Coopers BBQ, $100 gift card to Jacoby’s Café, $100 Tractor Supply gift card, $75 Wal-Mart gift card, $50 Visa Card, 40 QT. Igloo Sportsman Ice Chest, a STIHL Grass Trimmer, and a fringed purse and necklace.

TEXAS 4-H NIGHT AT THE RANGERS
It is that time of year again! Saturday September 28, 2013 is the date for the Texas 4-H Night at the Texas Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas. The Rangers will be taking on the Angels; game time will be at 7:05 p.m. Ticket prices start at $18 and go up to $51. For every advanced ticket purchased a $3 donation will be made to the Texas 4-H Youth Program. For more information contact Nick Gonzales.
