If you are planning on exhibiting a steer at the Brown County Youth Fair or a State Show it is mandatory that the steer is validated.  Steer validation will be on June 23, 2014 4:00p.m. at Bob Clarks pens. If you have any questions contact the Extension Office.

RECORD BOOKS

It is that time to start putting your record book together. If you are planning on putting a record book together here is the website to find the forms and other information you may need http://texas4-h.tamu.edu/youth_recordbooks. Record Books will be due to the Extension Office for review and category submission by June 23rd. If you need assistance with your record book or have any questions contact Nick Gonzales at the Extension Office.

LEADERSHIP LAB

Districts 7 and 10 Council Teams have joined forces to create a Leadership-Lab experience you will never forget! This year’s Theme is “Don’t Be aTurtle… Get Out of Your Shell”. The event will be held June 25th-27th at the one and only Texas 4-H Conference Center in Brownwood, Texas. Come and join other 4-Her’s from District 7 and 10 and enjoy three days and three nights of fun as we work together to build leadership skills and character necessary for success! There will be outstanding and innovative workshops & activities that you can take back to your counties. These include:

–       Getting Out of Your Shell

–       Public Speaking/ Interview Skills

–       Career Exploration

–       Tying it all together &More!

4-H members who are eligible can run for a District 7 Officer position. District 7 is looking for a strong group of candidates to run and lead District 7 for the 2014-2015 year! If you are interested in running for an office or learning how you can pursue this in the future, contact Nick Gonzales before it is too late.THE DEADLINE TO REGISTER ON 4-H CONNECT IS JUNE 2ND AND LATE REGISTRATION IS FROM JUNE 3RD-9TH.

MAJOR STOCK SHOW CHECKS

We have received truck and placing checks from Fort Worth Stock Show and only truck checks from San Antonio, San Angelo Stock Show, Houston and Austin Stock Show. If you participated in these major stock shows and placed in your class or put your animal on the truck please come by the office to pick up your check. JUNIOR/INTERMEDIATE FASHION SHOW

The District 7 Junior/Intermediate Fashion Show is set for Tuesday July 15, 2014, in Grape Creek, Texas. If you are interested in participating please contact Kim Miles at the Extension Office.

Pay a deposit by June 14th or full amount for July camps

Discount fee if you register for July camps before June 13th

Below is a list of all the camps that will be held at the Texas 4-H Center this summer.

  • Horizons – Grades 4-8, Dates of Camp June 29th – July 3rd, cost for camp is $280
  • County Camp 1 – Dates of Camp June 30th – July 2nd, cost for camp is $180
  • Mission Possible – Dates of Camp July 7th – July 9th, cost for camp is $175
  • County Camp II– Dates of Camp July 9th – July 12th, cost for camp is $180
  • County Camp III – Dates of Camp July 9th – July 12th, cost for camp is $230
  • Prime Time I – Grades 5th-8th, Dates of Camp July 20th– July 23rd, cost for camp is $230
  • Prime Time II – Grades 2nd – 5th, Dates of Camp July 23rd – July 26th, cost for camp is $230

4-H ENROLLMENT IS OPEN ON 4-H CONNECT!

The enrollment process for the 2013-2014 4-H yearhas started. All 4-H families, new and returning, are encouraged to log in and enroll in order to become an official 4-H member.

As you begin your enrollment for the year, here are some tips in using 4-H CONNECT:

  • If you already have a profile DO NOT create another one!
  • If you lost your email and password call the county office so we can reset it for you.
  • An active membership will not be granted until the $20.00 participation fee is paid on 4-H   Connect!
  • You cannot register or participate in an eventuntil your profile is ACTIVE.
  • When you are doing your re-enrollment for the 2013-2014 4-H Year please make sure you update your address, phone number, and e-mail address.
  • You can use your Spaghetti Luncheon Fundraiser Voucher to pay your membership dues. To do this you will have to come into the extension office to enroll.
  • We are updating our e-mail database on November 1st so if you are not enrolled by then you will no longer receive newsletters updates via e-mail. Unless you notify the Extension Office prior to November 1st deadline.

Don’t wait until the last minute to enroll because after October 31st the cost increases to $25!!
