4-H ENROLLMENT IS OPEN ON 4-H CONNECT!

The enrollment process for the 2013-2014 4-H yearhas started. All 4-H families, new and returning, are encouraged to log in and enroll in order to become an official 4-H member. Our goal is to have 110 members enrolled in 4-H by October 31st.

As you begin your enrollment for the year, here are some tips in using 4-H CONNECT:

  • If you already have a profile DO NOT create another one!
  • If you lost your email and password call the county office so we can reset it for you.
  • An active membership will not be granted until the $20.00 participation fee is paid on 4-H   Connect!
  • You cannot register or participate in an eventuntil your profile is ACTIVE.
  • When you are doing your re-enrollment for the 2013-2014 4-H Year please make sure you update your address, phone number, and e-mail address.
  • You can use your Spaghetti Luncheon Fundraiser Voucher to pay your membership dues. To do this you will have to come into the extension office to enroll.
  • We are updating our e-mail database on November 1st so if you are not enrolled by then you will no longer receive newsletters updates via e-mail. Unless you notify the Extension Office prior to November 1st deadline.

Don’t wait until the last minute to enroll because after October 31st the cost increases to $25!!

CLUB MANAGER / ADULT LEADER MEETING AUGUST 27TH

If you are interested in becoming a Club Manager/Adult Leader there will be a training on August 27, 2013, 6:00 p.m. at the Brown County Extension Office. If you would like more information please contact Nick Gonzales at 325-646-0386.

MARKET GOAT AND LAMB CLINIC

Brown County 4-H goat mentors Garrett & Gayland Miller, along with the 4-H Sheep Club leaders Guy and Ann Glasscock will be sponsoring a seminar focusing on market goat and lamb nutrition and exercise needs required to be competitive in the show ring; with guest speaker Mr. Brent Drennan, sheep and goat specialist from Jacoby Feeds.

The clinic will be held on Saturday August 31st 10:00am – 11:30am at the Brown County Youth Fair Home Economics Building. If you have any questions in advance of the event please contact Gayland Miller at 325-642-3007 or Nick Gonzalesat 325-646-0386.

FOODS WORKSHOP

There will be a Foods Workshop on Monday September23rd,5:00p.m. at the Bangs FCS Classroom. This will be an opportunity for 4-H members to learn more about the Foods & Nutrition project, food show, food challenge, and other related activities. Please RSVP by September 18th. BROWN COUNTY 4-H FOOD SHOW

The 2013 Brown County 4-H Food Show is set for October 26, 2013, 1:00p.m. at the Extension Office. If you are interested in participating please RSVP by October 16th. For more information please contact Kim Miles at 325-646-0386.

Best of all it’s FREE!  For iPhones, iPads, and Androids go to the app store / play store and search “4-H News and Events” and select the app and tap on install. Once you have it installed select Texas and Browncounty.

TEXAS 4-H NIGHT AT THE RANGERS T-SHIRTS

If you are interested in purchasing a T-shirt for the “Night at the Ballpark” the online ordering system is ready to accept orders. The shirts will cost $5.00 (larger sizes additional charge).  Orders will close on Sunday, September 8th.  In the special sections area, make sure you designate your shirts to be shipped to Brown County. You DO NOT have to be attending the September 28th Texas Rangers game to place an order.  This is open to anyone interested in purchasing.
