STATE LAMB AND GOAT TAGS
It is that time again!! If you are a 4-H member and planning on showing a Lamb, Breeding Sheep or Goat at any Major Stock Show such as Ft. Worth, San Antonio, Austin, San Angelo, or Houston you will need to purchase state tags. The costs of the tags are $10 per animal. The deadline to order tags is August 20th. If you are planning on purchasing a state lamb tag for San Angelo Stock Show you need to make sure that lamb is Texas Bred and has a Texas Lamb Breeders tag, which will come from the lamb breeder. You can order state tags by contacting the Extension Office.
MARKET GOAT AND LAMB CLINIC
Brown County 4-H goat mentors Garrett & Gayland Miller, along with the 4-H Sheep Club leaders Guy and Ann Glasscock will be sponsoring a seminar focusing on market goat and lamb nutrition and exercise needs required to be competitive in the show ring; with guest speaker Mr. Brent Drennan, sheep and goat specialist from Jacoby Feeds.
The clinic will be held on Saturday August 31st 10:00am – 11:30am at the Brown County Youth Fair Home Economics Building. If you have any questions in advance of the event please contact Gayland Miller at 325-642-3007 or Nick Gonzalesat 325-646-0386.
BROWN COUNTY 4-H COUNCIL INTERVIEWS
County 4-H Council will be holding interviews for 2013 – 2014 officers on August 13th at the extension office. The Brown County 4-H Council is a leadership team that is elected through an application and interview process at the county level. Each of these 4-H members represents the 4-H program throughout the year at many different county and district events. If you have any questions please contact Nick Gonzales.
BROWN COUNTY 4-H AWARDS BANQUET AND FUN DAY
Save the date for the upcoming Brown County 4-H Awards Banquet and Fun Day. The date is set for August 24, 2013. This year the Awards Banquet and Fun Day will be held at the Texas 4-H Center. There will be no cost to attend this year’s banquet. The banquet is open to everyone so bring some friends that are interested in 4-H. The deadline to RSVP for the banquet will be Friday, August 16, 2013.

– If you have accomplished any award this past 4-H year please fill out a project form, which can be obtained through the extension office or email. The forms are due back to the extension office by August 12th.
TEXAS 4-H NIGHT AT THE RANGERS
It is that time of year again! Saturday September 28, 2013 is the date for the Texas 4-H Night at the Texas Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas. The Rangers will be taking on the Angels, game time will be at 7:05p.m.. Ticket prices start at $18 and go up to $51. For every advanced ticket purchased a $3 donation will be made to the Texas 4-H Youth Program. If you would like more information contact Nick Gonzales.
ANDERSON BEAN ANNOUNCES 10% DISCOUNT OPPORTUNITY TO MEMBERS AND VOLUNTEERS
Anderson Bean Boot Company through their new alliance contract with the Texas 4-H Foundation, is now offering a 10% discount on their complete line of Anderson Bean, Horse Power, Macie Bean and Anderson Bean Kids Boots to all members of Texas 4-H, the Texas 4-H Friends & Alumni Association, Volunteers (registered in 4-H Connect), and county agents who are members of one of the professional extension associations.
Certificates will be made available on 4-H Connect for all 4-H members and screened volunteers, once approved, which can be downloaded. The Association related membership certificates will be provided direct to the members upon membership renewal. The certificate would need to be presented at the participating retailer to receive the discount. A member can print and use the discount certificate as many times as they would like during the promotional period. Anderson Bean Boot Company has a limited number of the Texas 4-H boots still remaining and those can be ordered as well through the participating retailers.
