BROWN COUNTY 4-H GOAT WORKSHOP – JULY 16TH

It’s that time again to start selecting goats for the Brown County Youth Fair and major stock shows. We want to help new and inexperienced feeders start on the right foot so Brown County 4-H Goat Mentors, Gayland & Garrett Miller, will be conducting a series of Market Goat Workshops.

The first one will be held July 16th 5:30 PM at the Brown County Extension office. The workshop will cover overview of the Goat Project, Selection, and Facilities.

This will be a great opportunity for new/inexperienced feeders or anyone wanting to gain more information about their goat project. For more information on the Goat Workshop please contact Gayland Miller (325-642-3007), Garrett Miller (325-998-6790), or Nick Gonzales.

BROWN COUNTY 4-H COUNCIL INTERVIEWS

Are you interested in being a Youth Leader? Do you want to be someone that younger 4-Hers can look up to? Well here is your chance!!! County 4-H Council will be holding interviews for 2013 – 2014 officers on August 13th at the extension office. The Brown County 4-H Council is a leadership team that is elected through an application and interview process at the county level. Each of these 4-H members represents the 4-H program throughout the year at many different county and district events. Applications will be available starting July 19th and will be due August 5th. BRONZE, SILVER, OR GOLD STAR AWARDS

If you turned in a record book this year and interested in applying for the Bronze, Silver, or Gold Star Awards you will need to contact the Extension Office. The age groups for the awards are Bronze (Junior), Silver (Intermediate), and Gold (Senior). If you have any questions please contact Nick Gonzales.

BROWN COUNTY 4-H AWARDS BANQUET AND FUN DAY

Save the date for the upcoming Brown County 4-H Awards Banquet and Fun Day. The date is set for August 24, 2013. This year the Awards Banquet and Fun Day will be held at the Texas 4-H Center. More information will follow at a later time.

TEXAS 4-H NIGHT AT THE RANGERS

It is that time of year again! Saturday September 28, 2013 is the date for the Texas 4-H Night at the Texas Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas. The Rangers will be taking on the Angels, game time will be at 7:05p.m.. Ticket prices start at $18 and go up to $51. For every advanced ticket purchased a $3 donation will be made to the Texas 4-H Youth Program. If you would like more information contact Nick Gonzales.

WEST TEXAS FAIR AND STATE FAIR

It is that time already to start thinking about stock shows. The fall stock shows that are coming up are West Texas Fair and State Fair. The deadline to enter into the West Texas Fair and State Fair is August 8th. The entry forms are available at the Extension Office. If you have any questions please contact Nick Gonzales

LET’S GO CAMPING 2013!

  • 4-H membership is NOT required to participate in any camp.

Pay a deposit by June 13th or full amount for July camps

Discount fee if you register for July camps before June 13th

Below is a list of all the camps that will be held at the Texas 4-H Center this summer.

  • Prime Time I – Grades 5th-8th, Dates of Camp July 21st – July 24th, cost for camp is $225
  • Prime Time II – Grades 2nd – 5th, Dates of Camp July 24th – July 27th, cost for camp is $225

4-H ENROLLMENT IS OPEN ON 4-H CONNECT!

All 4-H families, new and returning, are encouraged to log in and enroll in order to become an official 4-H member. If you want to become an adult leader or volunteer we encourage you to enroll for the 2012-2013 year. The web site for 4-H CONNECT is www.4honline.com There is no cost for adult leaders or adult volunteers. As you enroll in 4-H for the year, here are some tips in using 4-H CONNECT:

• If you already have a profile DO NOT create another one!

• If you lost your email and password call the county office we can tell you your e-mail address and reset your password!

• To be an official 4-H member in Texas 4-H you must have an ACTIVE profile in 4-H CONNECT!

• An active membership will not be granted until the $25.00 participation fee is paid on 4-H   Connect!

• You cannot register for an event until your profile is ACTIVE.

• When you are doing your re-enrollment for the 2012-2013 4-H Year please make sure you update your address, phone number, and e-mail address.

• You can use your Spaghetti Luncheon Fundraiser Voucher to pay your membership dues. To do this you will have to come into the extension office to enroll.
