2015 – 2016 STEER/HEIFER VALIDATION
If you are planning on exhibiting a steer at the Brown County Youth Fair or a State Show it is mandatory that the steer is validated. If you are planning on showing a heifer that has not been validated please contact the Extension Office. Steer/Heifer validation will be on June 29, 2015 3:00p.m. at Bob Clarks pens. District 7 Sheep and Goat Youth Leadership Tour
District 7 is hosting a sheep and goat tour July 27-29, 2015. This program is to educate youth on the aspects of sheep and goat production. It will cover topics such as evaluation, feedlots, breeds, and marketing. The purpose is to show that there is another side to sheep and goat production other than showing. The program will be in San Angelo and youth will be staying in the Concho Hall dorms provided by ASU. A chaperone must attend with the youth participant, please note that the chaperone is responsible for transporting the participants to each stop on the tour.
Registration fee is $75 per person (youth and chaperone).All participants must be 13 years old at the time of the event. Registration forms and fees are due to the Concho County Extension Office by July 17, 2015. For more information and registration forms contact Nick Gonzales.
Texas Hunter Education Program Offered in July in Llano county
Hunter education is the first step in a lifelong commitment to responsible outdoor behavior, conservation and stewardship.
The Basic Hunter Education Course is designed for novice or young hunters, ages 9 years and above. The course covers the core competencies of firearm and hunting safety, hunting ethics and wildlife conservation. All materials are provided and subjects are covered to enable the student to successfully complete the hunter education certification process.
The Basic Hunter Education Course lasts a maximum of 6 hours of classroom instruction. This time does not include registration, breaks, test administration and certification card distribution. Courses are offered across the state year round and are taught by certified volunteer instructors. The fee for the certification is $15. Pre-registration is required.
The Llano 4-H Youth Committee will be sponsoring this course. The date set is Thursday, July 23rd, at the Llano County Extension office, 1447 East State Hwy. 71-Unit E, Llano, TX 78643. The course will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Lunch will be on your own; please feel free to bring a sack lunch or go to town for lunch. Snacks will be available during the day. - Horizons – Grades 4-8, Dates of Camp June 28th – July 2nd, cost for camp is $280
- County Camp I – Dates of Camp June 29th – July 1st , cost for camp is $180
- Mission Possible – Dates of Camp July 7th – July 9th, cost for camp is $175
- County Camp II– Dates of Camp July 6th – July 8th, cost for camp is $180
- County Camp III – Dates of Camp July 8th – July 11th, cost for camp is $230
- Prime Time I – Grades 5th-8th, Dates of Camp July 19th – July 22nd , cost for camp is $230
- Prime Time II – Grades 2nd – 5th, Dates of Camp July 22nd – July 25th, cost for camp is $230
- Prime Time Extreme – Grades 8th-11th, Dates of Camp July 27th – July 30th, cost for camp is $230
4-H ENROLLMENT IS OPEN ON 4-H CONNECT!
The enrollment process for the 2014-2015 4-H year will begin August 15, 2014. All 4-H families, new and returning, are encouraged to log in and enroll in order to become an official 4-H member.
As you begin your enrollment for the year, here are some tips in using 4-H CONNECT:
- If you already have a profile DO NOT create another one!
- If you lost your email and password call the county office so we can reset it for you.
- An active membership will not be granted until the $20.00 participation fee is paid on 4-H Connect!
- You cannot register or participate in an eventuntil your profile is ACTIVE.
- When you are doing your re-enrollment for the 2014-2015 4-H Year please make sure you update your address, phone number, and e-mail address.
- You can use your Fundraiser Voucher to pay your membership dues. To do this you will have to come into the extension office to enroll.
- We are updating our e-mail database on November 1st so if you are not enrolled by then you will no longer receive newsletters updates via e-mail. Unless you notify the Extension Office prior to November 1st deadline.
Don’t wait until the last minute to enroll because after October 31st the cost increases to $25!!
