NEED HELP CLIPPING YOUR SHOW ANIMAL?

If you are going to need help clipping your show animal for the Youth Fair please contact the Extension Office and schedule a date and time. We will not be clipping any animals on January 1st.  The last day we will be clipping any animals for the Youth Fair is January 3rd.  If you need to borrow clippers, blower, blocking table, etc. please contact the Extension Office. We have a limited number of these items so if you borrow them we need them back within 24 hours. If you have any questions please contact the Extension Office.

COLLEGIATE FARM BUREAU SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE

Brown County Farm Bureau is once again offering collegiate scholarships for the spring 2015 semester. These scholarships are intended for those who are already in college or are of college age. Applications may be picked up at the Brown County Farm Bureau Office located at 2450 HWY 377 South in Brownwood.

Participants or their family must be Brown County Farm Bureau members in order to apply. Scholarship applications are due back to the Brown County Farm Bureau Office by January 1, 2015. For more information contact Brown County Farm Bureau at 325-646-5516.

Consumer Decision Making!

Consumer Decision Making is designed to teach 4-Hers to observe, compare and make consumer based decisions based on facts.  Youth will use their consumer knowledge to rank similarly based products to fit a given scenario.

Our first practice will be held on January 13th at 6:00PM at the Brown County Extension office. Study guides are available, which can be emailed, for 4-Hers that are interested. Fashion Show Practice (Mandatory Participation) will be as soon as each contestant goes before the judge in their last garment or if there is a length of time between garments they may practice then, they must sign off on list when they practice.

Construction will be judged after appearance judging and lunch break for judges. Only judges and authorized persons allowed at this time.

4-H ENROLLMENT IS OPEN ON 4-H CONNECT!

The enrollment process for the 2014-2015 4-H year will begin August 15, 2014. All 4-H families, new and returning, are encouraged to log in and enroll in order to become an official 4-H member.

As you begin your enrollment for the year, here are some tips in using 4-H CONNECT:

  • If you already have a profile DO NOT create another one!
  • If you lost your email and password call the county office so we can reset it for you.
  • An active membership will not be granted until the $20.00 participation fee is paid on 4-H   Connect!
  • You cannot register or participate in an event until your profile is ACTIVE.
  • When you are doing your re-enrollment for the 2014-2015 4-H Year please make sure you update your address, phone number, and e-mail address.
  • You can use your Fundraiser Voucher to pay your membership dues. To do this you will have to come into the extension office to enroll.
  • We are updating our e-mail database on November 1st so if you are not enrolled by then you will no longer receive newsletters updates via e-mail. Unless you notify the Extension Office prior to November 1st deadline.

Don’t wait until the last minute to enroll because after October 31st the cost increases to $25!
