Brownwood News – The Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls in recent days.

On Wednesday, February 26, at approximately 10:03 am, Deputy Scotty Burke was dispatched to the intersection of Limerick Drive and Lovers Lane in reference to a hit and run investigation and report.

On Wednesday, February 26, at approximately 11:36 am, Deputy Scotty Burket met with a female complainant at the Law Enforcement Center.  This was in reference to a theft of service report and investigation on County Road 436.

On February 26, Sgt. Joe Thomas was dispatched to the Brown County Law Enforcement Center in reference to a report of identity theft.  The male complainant advised an unknown person used the complainant’s identifying information during a traffic stop in Smith County and now the complainant has learned he has a warrant for his arrest.  A report was made.

On Wednesday, February 26, at about 17:03 hours, Deputy Simpson responded to County Road 104 in Bangs.  This was in regards to a house possibly being struck by gun fire.  Upon arriving on scene, it was discovered the damage to the residence is approximately two weeks old.  The owner of the residence did not wish to pursue charges.  An information report was made.

On Wednesday, February 26, at approximately 16:14, Deputy Scotty Burke met with a complainant on Highway 279 in reference to a criminal mischief report and investigation.

On Thursday, February 27, at about 17:00 hours, Deputy Simpson took a phone call in regards to a bull being found on a property on CR 134.  Deputy Simpson attempted to locate an owner without success.  Deputy Simpson got the estray process started.  A report was made.

On February 27, Deputy Taylor Fletcher, performed a traffic stop on a tan Mercury Sedan on FM 218.  A consent search of the vehicle yielded two glass pipes containing methamphetamine residue.  Two of the occupants, a man and woman, were arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

On Thursday, February 27, 2020, at approximately 10:07 hours, Officer Wells with a Theft reported at a South Brownwood business in the 1400 block of Austin Avenue. While en route, dispatch advised officers that the three (3) subjects had fled the store. Officer Wells located one of the subjects, began driving the area and located two subjects in the alleyway several blocks away. He drove down 1st to intercept the two subjects. Once he located the subjects the male refused to follow commands. The male subject fled the scene on foot later to return to help his girlfriend escape. The male subject was later placed under arrest. A report was generated and completed.

On Thursday, February 27, 2020 at approximately 08:45 hours, Officer Risdon was dispatched to a call of an unwanted person located at a north Brownwood address in the 600 block of Melwood Avenue.  Upon contact, an investigation and a report were completed.

On Thursday, February 27, 2020 at approximately 12:41 hours,  Officer Risdon was dispatched to a north Brownwood business in the 400 block of West Commerce regarding a theft. Upon arrival an investigation and a citation were completed.

On Thursday, February 27, 2020 at approximately 21:36 hours, Brownwood Police Officers were dispatched to a south Brownwood address in the 1900 block of Avenue B in reference to a domestic disturbance. A report was generated for this incident.

On 2/26/2020 at 20:00 hours, Officers were dispatched to the 1000 Blk. of 12th St. in reference to disorderly conduct. A report was taken to be passed on for further investigation.
