Brownwood News – A Candidate Forum, hosted by the Brown County Republican Party, will be held from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm tonight, Tuesday, February 4. The forum will take place at Victory Life Church, 901 C.C. Woodson Road in Brownwood. Doors open at 5:00 pm. Randy Turner of KOXE/KBWD radio stations will serve as the forum moderator.
Local uncontested candidates will be introduced first. Next will be the introduction of two candidates running for Justice, 11th Court of Appeals District, Place 2, then four candidates running for Texas House of Representative, District 60 followed by the 10 candidates running for District 11 in the U.S. House of Representatives. “We will allow each of them three minutes to make their speeches to who they are and why they’re running for the office,” said Robert Porter, Brown County Republican Party Chair. That will be followed by a question and answer period where the candidates will each address a question or group of questions. “This is an opportunity to hear each of the candidates all in one place at one time. This will precede the opening of early voting and subsequently the election day which is the first Tuesday in March,” Porter said.
There will be a table in the lobby for candidates to place campaign materials on. Candidates may also place one yard sign in the area around the flag pole.
There was a large turnout for a similar candidate forum in 2016.
