Brookesmith ISD Press Release – Eleven Brookesmith ISD students competed at the District 16 UIL Meet held in Menard on March 23rd, with nine students advancing to the regional meet. Villareal, Zamarripa, Petross, Heard, Hancock, Roberts, Smith, Perkins, and J. Harris will compete at the Regional Meet in the following events Accounting, Computer Science, Currents Issues, Feature Writing, Mathematics, News Writing, and Ready Writing.
Brookesmith High School’s one act play advances to the Area Competition.
Five years ago Brookesmith ISD reinstated their high school one act play program after almost fifteen years without any theater arts programs available. Now the OAP team is preparing for the Area Competition at Angelo State University on Saturday, April 1st.
The team has chosen the play: This is a Test
At the Bi-District Competition cast member Christina Zamarripa was named Best Actress for her portrayal of Alice, a high school student with severe test anxiety. Dylan Hancock in the roll of Mr. Williams, the indifferent teacher was awarded All Star Cast. Playing Alice’s Best Friend, Lois, Nikki Roberts received Honorable Mention. Lighting Technician Chyna Allgood was awarded outstanding crew member.
At the District Competition Zamarripa and Hancock were All Star Cast Members. While Roberts was Honorable Mention and sound technician Hannah Valdez was awarded outstanding crew member.
Other cast and crew members are Kutter Smith, MacKenzee Heard, Rusty Roberts, Taylor Moore, Jolene Andrews, Laramie Nelson, Katie Harris, Brianna Garay, Aleric Petross, Sesily Morris, Meagan Valdez, Tatum Morris, Payge Gerth, Holden Bolt, and Marcos Martinez.
