CraigBrownwood Regional Medical Center (BRMC) Chief Nursing Officer, Pam Craig, RN has been elected to the position of President Elect for the Texas Organization of Nurse Executives (TONE).  Having worked at Brownwood Regional Medical Center for the past eleven years, Craig has served as Chief Nursing Officer for eight of those years.

The vision of the Texas Organization of Nurse Executives is to shape the future of healthcare in Texas through innovative nursing leadership.  TONE’s mission is to represent nurse leaders in Texas who improve healthcare through collaboration and innovation.  Within a rapidly changing environment, TONE exists as a forum for nurse leaders to advocate and facilitate the provision of compassionate, effective, and efficient healthcare with an emphasis on Nursing’s role in that process.

Pam specializes in analysis and development of nursing systems, with a special focus on integration of the nursing process at all levels of service, including administration.  She has been devoted to nursing for 26 years, beginning as a staff nurse in various clinical settings, including medical/surgical, psychiatry, and women’s services.  Early in her career, she developed an interest in the efficient organization of nursing services, with an emphasis on both patient outcomes and nursing satisfaction.  Her interest and skills in these areas were further developed in a community health center setting where she worked as a health educator and eventually advanced to become assistant director.   She then further enhanced her skills in the area of quality management when she returned to the hospital setting just prior to becoming the chief nursing officer for BRMC.

She is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and the Texas Nurses Association.  She was a contributing author to Nursing Assessment, Plan of Care, and Patient Education: The Foundation of Patient Care, published by HCPro; and to the article “Keeping kids safe:  One facility’s approach to pediatric security” which appeared in the January 2008 issue of HCPro’s Briefings on Patient Safety.  She was also a contributor to the Texas Hospital Association’s Safety First:  How Texas Hospital Are Creating a Culture of Safety with emphasis on Staff Staffing.  And, she has been published in the Community Health System Nursing Notes for her contribution with the Charge Nurse Redesign Project.   In 2010, Pam was awarded the Community Health System (CHS) Outstanding Achievement in Leadership Award.

As President Elect, Pam will be working with TONE on numerous objectives.  Some of which include:
