A mother’s note to a friend expresses the deep sorrow she feels for her son, a soldier and his wife, who were recently burglarized.
“Last night Daniel and Katrina’s house was burglarized. They stole pretty much everything… Their new TV and surround sound, both computers, all Katrina’s clothes, X Box and PS3, and all their Christmas presents, even the hangers for their stockings and the wreath on the front door… Etc… Fortunately they weren’t home. You know, Daniel just spent a year of his life in ‘hell’, and when he finally gets to come home and try and make a life for him and Katrina, some loser steals from them. Please pray for them, that God will give them peace with this, and pray that they get their things back. They did not have insurance on their things. I am so sad and I feel so helpless. My heart is hurting so bad for them. Please pray for them. Thanks.” Daniel and Katrina Kinnibrugh are both graduates of Brookesmith High School. Daniel’s parents Kimon & Rene’ Faubion are real estate agents with Coldwell Banker and Rene’ participated in the Fit By Faith Quest 12 and Tae-Bo-A-Thon for our Troops this past Fall. Daniel joined the Army in 2008 and married Katrina that Summer.
They are currently stationed in North Carolina; however, Daniel was sent to Iraq before Christmas 2008 last year and just returned to the states on November 17, 2009. He worked in Iraq on Christmas day last year and the family was told not to send gifts to him because anything they sent, he would have to carry on his back.
The young couple had rented a home off base and just since Thanksgiving they have purchased furniture, clothes, electronics, etc. with the money they saved during this past year. They went shopping Sunday night to buy presents for their family because they are flying home to Texas for Christmas. They took it all home and went out with friends to eat and spend the evening. They were so excited about their new home and Daniel mentioned to his friend, “Now that I have things that are worth something, I need to go get insurance“. However, upon their return to their home, they found that they had been burglarized. Someone robbed them of most of their “new” purchases, clothes, flat irons, electronics, Christmas decorations, etc, but most of all, they robbed this young couple of their Christmas Spirit and Happiness. This person invaded their precious lives, which they have just started to build together. Daniel has been in Iraq for the first year of marriage, and were robbed less than a month of being home from serving our country in Iraq.
Sheri Wells of Coldwell Banker notes, “My heart aches for them and with this note, I thought I could prompt many of you to forward to others and our hope being that we can bring some happiness and cheer back into their lives.”
Despite whether you know this family, this young soldier and his wife need some Christmas Spirit right now. The family will pick them up in Austin from the Airport on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, but they will be in Texas for at least a week. If you want to send some Christmas cheer their way. Keep this young couple in your prayers.
