Brownwood News – Brown County Commissioners met briefly Monday morning. All business was taken care of in 10 minutes. All were present and County Judge, Dr. Paul Lilly, presided.
Highlights from the meeting are as follows:
- The Burn Ban remains off at this time
- Commissioners gave approval for Precinct 2 Commissioner, Joel Kelton, to hire a full-time road hand on a temporary basis for the summer months. The wage is $14 hourly.
- Commissioners approved a request, from Sheriff Vance Hill, to accept a grant of $4,436.80 from the National Rifle Association. Sheriff Hill called this a “great help” as the money will be used toward the purchase of ammunition. Sheriff Hill said his department spends about $10,000 annually on ammo.
- Commissioners voted to accept the latest round of donations for the SWAT vehicle, $40.72, from t-shirt sales.
