AbernathyBrandonGomezGraveside services for Brandon Lee Gomez Abernathy, age 18, of Bangs, Texas will be held 11:30 AM  Monday, September 8, 2014 at Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early.  Brandon passed away Monday, September 1, 2014 in Brownwood.

Brandon was born on January 16, 1996 in Brownwood, Texas to Morris Lee Abernathy and Irene Gomez.  He attended school in Brownwood and was a 2012 graduate of Bangs High School.  He attended the Bangs New Testament Holiness Church, worked in landscaping and had planned on enrolling in college.  Brandon was a happy, smiling person who liked listening to music and playing paintball.

Survivors include his mother Irene Gomez Walls and husband Jessie; his father Morris Abernathy; sisters Angela and Marie Lara; brothers Robert Gomez and Jesse James Walls;  grandmothers Kathy Gomez and Linda Abernathy; aunts and uncles James and Yesenia Gomez, Frances and Mike Arnold, Elizabeth Williams Fuentes and Betty Jo Abernathy and by numerous cousins and friends.  He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Trinidad Gomez and Bud Abernathy; one brother Aaron Gomez and one cousin Bonnie Marie Grant.
