Bangs High School student Dylan Bostick recently took home top honors of Grand Champion at the National Red Brangus Stock Show. The show was held in Lake Charles, Louisiana June 26th-29th.
Dylan will be a junior this fall at Bangs High School and plans to attend Texas A&M University to become a veterinarian in the future.
Dylan’s younger brother Dustin won the title in 2012, their mother explained that the family is very excited.
“My youngest son Dustin won the National Show last year and my oldest son Dylan won it this year,” said Stephanie Bostick. “Two years back-to-back for us is pretty darn exciting.”
The brothers also took home other winnings.
Dylan captured the title of Senior Showmanship which comes with a $750 scholarship. He also won Reserve Grand Champion Bred and Owned Bull and was elected to the American Junior Red Brangus Association (AJRBA) junior committee.
Dustin earned the title of Intermediate Showmanship, winning a $500 scholarship. He also won in the intermediate division of livestock judging at the show.
Together, the brothers won the Herdsman Award, which is given for keeping your stall area the cleanest.
Overall it was a great trip for the Bosticks according to Stephanie Bostick. The brothers’ next show will be the State Fair of Texas in October.
