Bonnie Harkey, age 85 of San Saba, Texas passed away in Leon County, Texas on Tuesday March 27, 2012. Bonnie was born on July 26, 1926, to Joe Sawyer and Kitty Tubbs. Bonnie loved her church and was a very faithful member of the First Baptist Church in San Saba. She also participated in the Baptist Women on a Mission, served on many committees at San Saba First Baptist Church and was a member of The Joy Sunday School Class. She was a member of the San Saba County Extension Education for forty seven years, a faithful member of Fellowship of Christian Women and devoted member of the San Saba Garden Club for thirty years. She served as the president of the Garden Club two times and served as a member of the Wallace Creek Extension Club. She loved everybody and was a caregiver to everyone.
Bonnie is survived by one sister, Wilma Cook of Waco, Texas; one son in law, James Ballinger of San Saba; several nieces and nephews; and Miss Kitty, a loving black and white cat. She is also survived by a host of friends in San Saba and the surrounding area. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Riley Harkey; one sister, Joyce Kimbrough; one brother, Ralph Sawyer; and a daughter, Connie Ballinger.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday April 1, 2012 at San Saba First Baptist Church at 2:00 P.M. with Brother Sam Crosby officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at San Saba First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at San Saba Cemetery.
