Bonnie Faye Quinn, age 87, of Coleman was called to fly with the angels on Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Holiday Hill Nursing Home in Coleman.
She was born March 2, 1926 in Biloxi, Oklahoma, the daughter of Mary Elizabeth Sell Boss and Orville Beaumont Boss, Sr. She was the oldest of five siblings, Orville Beaumont Boss, Jr., Kenneth Ray Boss, Norma Dee Boss and Thelma Boss. Bonnie’s mother passed away when she was ten years old and she was raised by her maternal grandparents, Anna and Albert Sell in Summit Point, Utah.
At the age of 15, she met 19 year old John Earl Brackett at a dance and they were married in Aztec, New Mexico on November 22, 1941. Three girls were born to that union, Mary Lou, Anna Marie, and Joyce Darlene. Bonnie and John had been married 24 years and had lived their lives in Colorado. On April 4, 1966, John was killed in a truck accident on a mountain road.
Bonnie moved to Coleman, Texas where she married Roy Quinn in Comanche, Texas on July 22, 1975. She and Roy owned and operated pool halls in Tuscola, Brownwood, and Coleman. They owned the Cue Club in Coleman for several years prior to their retirement. Roy passed away on May 8, 1993 following 18 years of marriage.Bonnie’s love of life involved spending time with her kids and grandkids, fishing, road trips, her pets and a love of country music. Her favorite singer was Ray Price which she got to have a conversation with in Brownwood on one occasion.
Bonnie is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws, Tom and Mary Miller of Cortez, Colorado, Bill and Marie Chadd of Naturita, Colorado, Ray and Joyce Diaz of Coleman, a sister and brother-in-law, Harley and Norma Cressler of Dolores, Colorado. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a stepson, Jimmy Quinn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, 2 brothers, Kenneth and Junior Boss, an infant sister, Thelma Boss, her two husbands, John Brackett and Roy Quinn, two grandchildren, Deborah Darlene Reed and Roy Earl Chadd, a son-in-law, Floyd Lynn, step-children, Howard Quinn, Florence Ray, Emily Fulcher, J. T. Harmes, Shorty Harmes, and Ethel Reed.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, November 1, 2013 in the Tom G. Walker Memorial Chapel with Pastor Don Northway officiating assisted by Chaplain Mikey Wayne. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
