Brownwood News – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is investigating a boating accident that occurred over the July 4th holiday weekend 1.5 to 2 miles northwest of Byrd’s Store on the northern edge of Lake Brownwood.
According to Brown County Game Warden, Travis Allen, the Parks and Wildlife Department was notified of the accident around 5:00 am Friday, July 5, though the accident happened around 1:30 am that morning.
The boat was aluminum with an upper deck used for bow fishing. It had a 200 horse power outboard motor. There were four occupants, three adults and one child. According to Game Warden Allen, the driver of the boat tried to turn a corner and ran into the bank causing the boat to flip on its side in the edge of the water. The occupants were able to get assistance from a nearby landowner. A female was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. The occupants were said to be from out of town.
