The Brownwood Middle School Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society has recently stepped up to help create and prepare “Go-Bags” for teachers to utilize in the event of an emergency.
“The NJHS is always looking for ways to serve, and when it was asked to help with the Go-Bags project, the Chapter gladly accepted,” said Brownwood Middle School teacher and NJHS advisor, Jennifer Williams.
The contents of the bags and the plan for using them were designed under the advisement of Brownwood ISD School Resource Officer Fred Bastardo, and they are made for each classroom at Brownwood Middle School. The bags contain emergency supplies including a tarp and first-aid kit, and should an emergency occur that requires evacuation, each teacher will grab a Go-Bag to take out with the class of students.
Brownwood Middle School Secretary, Nancy Blackstock, asked the NJHS to help with the project, and the NJHS responded by not only putting the bags together, but also purchased all of the supplies that went into the project.
