Brownwood Middle School volleyball players and their coaches hosted an event, “Diggin’ for a Cure,” in honor of Debra Kirkland.
Kirkland is the mother of BMS coach Kim Harvey. She was diagnosed with breast cancer sixteen years ago and has recently begun the fight against bone cancer. Kirkland is an alumnus of Brownwood and served as an Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent for the school district for 25 years.During the Brownwood MS vs. San Angelo Lincoln games, BMS athletes played in honor of Kirkland. Students sold concessions and baked goods along with “Diggin’ for a Cure” t-shirts. These t-shirts are available for $12 each through Monday, October 20th. Anyone interested in purchasing a t-shirt may contact Coach McGuire at kendi.mcguire@brownwoodisd.org.
All proceeds from t-shirts as well as concession sales during the event benefit Mrs. Kirkland to help with expenses related to her treatment.
