The Brownwood Middle School Spring Art Show was held at the Brownwood Art Center from May 1st through May 3rd. Eighty-one students had artwork in the exhibit, which covered works made from the beginning of the year to the most recent class project. Included were drawings, paintings, mixed-media, and sculpture.
A local art teacher judged the show with decisions based on composition, effective use of color, and overall technique.
Winners from the BMS 7th and 8th grade classes were: Jakob Dorsett (1st place), Caylee Spencer (2nd place), Blake Wells (3rd place), Evelyn Munoz (Honorable Mention), Chloe Grimsley (Honorable Mention), Alie Rodriguez (Honorable Mention), and Cameron Goodall (Honorable Mention).
In the Advanced Art class, the winners were: Khloe Tobien (1st place), Isabella Lawrence (2nd place), and Vivian Coers (3rd place).
In addition, a Peoples’ Choice vote was held, and the recipient of that award was Khloe Tobien.
“I received many compliments on the quality of the students’ work,” said BMS art teacher, Julie Mize. “It made me proud to see my students get rewarded for their creative ideas and growth as young artists.”
