Brown County resident Tommy Blevins announced his candidacy for Brown County Commissioner, Precinct One.
In announcing his candidacy, Blevins states that he has been a resident of Brown County for many years and will be a conservative commissioner when administering the budget dollars of the county, which at present time is a fifteen million dollar budget. The county has numerous offices in which he will be involved with, will consider their needs and will cooperate with the head of each office, while being watchful for the tax dollars being spent.
Blevins also states, “I will use my knowledge in business to oversee the matters of Brown County. I also have the knowledge in which to see that the county equipment is properly maintained and that the roads and bridges of Brown County are kept repaired and maintained.”
Tommy also says that he will be available to his constituents to discuss county matters on a 24/7 basis, and will make every effort to return every call.
“I have successfully operated a personal business in Brown County for over thirty years and I truly feel that my years of business experience, civic involvement and Christian beliefs have prepared me to serve the citizens of Brown County as commissioner in a manner that is expected from our citizens.”
Blevins graduated from Bangs High School , entered the military and was honorably discharged from the United States Navy. After returning to Brown County, he and his wife, Judy Carpenter Blevins have continued to live for over 40 years in the county. For the last thirty two years Tommy Blevins has owned and operated Blevins Body Shop in Brownwood, Texas and has been involved in local civic matters including serving on the Brown County Tax Appraisal Board, Brownwood Chamber of Commerce Board, along with being a member of the Brownwood Kiwanis Club where he has served as President. He continues to serve as a deacon of Austin Avenue Church of Christ in Brownwood, and is on the Board of Directors of the Cherokee Children’s Home.
Family, friends, business associates, civic members and the welfare of Brown County citizens are very important to Tommy and his family. Tommy and Judy have two children: their late son, Brian Blevins, and daughter, Tammie Blevins Seymore and husband Dustin and their three children, Tyler, Tristyn, and Trey Seymore all of Austin, Texas.
