Brown County Sheriff’s Office released the following information regarding the continuing investigation of the murder of a Lake Brownwood woman in May. BCSO released the following statement regarding the investigation:
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers have been investigating the Chantay Blankinship murder case. Through our investigation we have cleared several suspects and are currently developing others. At this time, we do not have sufficient evidence to make an arrest.
We continue to ask the public for any information relating to the homicide and stress the up to $5,000 reward that is offered for information. Brown County Sheriff George Caldwell stated he is still hopeful that the case will not go cold.
“I’m still confident that we will catch whoever did this,” said Caldwell who explained that there is evidence in the case which is not being released at this time as BCSO is being very cautious not to jeopardize the case.
Blankinship was reported missing on May 14th, and her body was found 5 miles from the North Lake Brownwood Community. Sheriff Caldwell stated early in the investigation that Blankinship was killed by blunt force trauma.
