Bangs 4-H members made a presentation of blankets to the Veterans of Foreign War Post 3278 at their monthly meeting held Wednesday night.

The blankets were a joint effort between the VFW, VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary and 4-H members.  VFW members made a donation of $500 in December to the Texas 4-H Center to purchase supplies needed to make the blankets which will be given to veterans in local nursing homes.

Made at the annual teen leadership retreat at the Texas 4-H Center at Lake Brownwood, 20 blankets were completed which served as a community service project to be given to local veterans.   Approximately 120 4-H members from across the state attended the annual retreat which was held in January.

Members of the Bangs 4-H Club served as representatives of these state 4-H members in presenting the blankets to the VFW.

“One of the major areas our members strive for is to work in community service projects to help our communities,” explained Bangs 4-H Club Vice President Luke Carroll.    Carroll stated that the 4-H motto is “To make the best better.”  He stated that 4-H is the largest youth organization in the world, the club is more than 100 years old, and has members across the United States and around the world.

Pictured above and below Bangs 4-H members present the blankets to the VFW members.   Members present included Kyle Locke (Brown County 4-H Council President and District 7 Parliamentarian), Timothy Hall (Bangs 4-H Club representative), Luke Carroll (Bangs 4-H Club Vice President and Brown County 4-H Council Reporter), Kayleah Hall (Bangs 4-H Club President), and Lauryn Carroll (Bangs 4-H Club Secretary and Brown County 4-H Council Delegate).  Not pictured but also present were Bangs 4-H leaders Kristie Carroll and Rachel.
