Blanket High School Varsity Girls’ Cross Country team qualified for regional competition on Monday, October 20th after placing second as a team at the district meet held at Melody Oaks Ranch in Priddy, Texas.
Teams competing included Blanket, Zephyr, Priddy, Gustine and Sidney High Schools.
It was a very close meet according to Blanket Cross Country Coach E. W. Burt, as first place Zephyr High School Girls Varsity ran just 10 seconds faster than Blanket. Zephyr was ranked 3rd in the state and third place team, Priddy High School is ranked 8th in the state in 1A. The last time that Blanket made it to regional was in 1999, said Coach Burt.

Athletes and teams advancing to region will compete next on Saturday, November 1st at the UIL Region III – 1A Cross Country Championships at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie, Texas. The regional championship meet is hosted by the University of Texas at Arlington.
