Brownwood News – The Brownwood ISD Board of Trustees on Monday night nominated Superintendent, Dr. Joe Young, for the Texas Association of School Boards Superintendent of the Year Award.

Board President, Michael Cloy, said Dr. Young has lead Brownwood ISD to new heights.  “Dr. Young has been part of Brownwood ISD now for five years.  I think he’s done some things for Brownwood ISD that were long overdue.  I think that his ability to rally support and as a motivator is tremendous for our teachers.  I think he has vision regarding educating our children and he is eager to do things that are not the tradition or the norm,” Cloy said.  He also cited Dr. Young’s ability to delegate through his administrators.  “I think he’s been the glue that has really brought our board together.  I think our board is functioning at an extremely high level right now and I believe it’s mainly because of Dr. Young and his influence,” Cloy concluded.

According to the Texas Association of School Boards, five regional finalists will be chosen at the end of August.  They will then be interviewed and a winner chosen by a TASB State Selection Committee.  The winner will be named on October 2nd at the 2020 TASA/TASB Convention.
