Brownwood News – Jennifer Gwathmey was named as the BISD Spotlight Teacher for the month of April. Ms. Gwathmey teaches music at East Elementary School. A highly qualified educator, Ms. Gwathmey holds a BS in Psychology, an M.Ed. in Instructional Leadership, and a Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certificate from Howard Payne University.
Her certifications include Principal, Core Subjects (EC-6), Generalist (EC-4), English Language Arts and Reading (8-12), and English as a Second Language Supplemental Grades (EC-4, 8-12). Ms. Gwathmey joined the staff of East Elementary in 2017, but she was a part of the BISD team in 2005—2007 as an Instructional Aide. She has previous teaching experience in the Mullin, Mineral Wells, Houston and Early districts.
Nominated for her accomplishments at the East Elementary campus this year, Ms. Gwathmey brings tremendous enthusiasm and effort to her position. She brings a comprehensive experience into her musical education, creating for the students programs that include themes, costumes, and acting through public performances. Her colleagues appreciate her contagious attitude and joy that she shares with her campus. BISD is grateful for teachers like Jennifer Gwathmey who give of themselves so generously to students and staff alike!
This month’s BISD Staff Spotlight honoree is Jeff Greer. Mr. Greer is a technician at the Coggin Intermediate campus. Educated at Cisco Jr. College, Mr. Greer has an Associates Degree in Electronics and holds numerous certifications in specialty areas including AC/DC Circuits, Digital/Analog Circuits, and Electronic Troubleshooting. His programming skills are varied, as are his abilities in computer repair, hardware and software expertise.
Mr. Greer’s support of teachers and staff at his campus are of paramount importance, given the use of technology in the daily classroom. Known for his calm demeanor, expeditious responses, and solid capabilities, Mr. Greer’s co-workers depend on him to keep their technical instruction in the classroom running smoothly. BISD’s emphasis on STEM and the use of technology in our educational efforts highlight the importance of qualified staff in our day-to-day operations. We are grateful for the quality of staff members like Jeff Greer!
