bisdlogo3Brownwood ISD has called a special school board meeting for Friday, November 16th to canvass votes from the November 6th Brownwood ISD school board trustee election.

The district did not canvass the votes Monday before swearing in three school board members – Eric Evans, Diane Thompson, and Brad Jetton.   Evans was re-elected after winning the election, but Thompson and Jetton were not opposed after filing in their place.

The district will hold a second swearing in ceremony at the Friday meeting after the canvassing of the votes.   Although Evans was the only trustee involved in an opposed race, officials said that they will swear in all three candidates again.

“All 3 just to be safe,” said Brownwood ISD Superintendent Reece Blincoe in an email.  “I don’t really think it’s necessary on the two that were unopposed, really just Eric, but better safe than sorry.”

Blincoe said that the canvassing issue does not affect any votes cast or decisions made at Monday’s school board meeting since all votes were unanimous.

“All votes were unanimous, so even if you back out two votes, (Eric was still a member, regardless of canvass) we’re still ok,” Blincoe said.

The special board meeting set for Friday will begin at 11:30am.
