Brownwood ISD has scheduled an informational meeting on Tuesday, November 29th seeking input from potential sponsors regarding a new high-tech scoreboard and video display for Gordon Wood Stadium. Daktronics, a worldwide leader in large format electronic displays and stadium scoreboard systems, is working closely with Brownwood ISD to produce several options for the proposed scoreboard varying in size, cost, and technical functionality.
“There is a lot to look at and discuss with our potential sponsors,” said Brownwood ISD Community Relations Coordinator Charles Musgrove. “We are planning some great advertising bundles that go with the varying anchor positions displayed on the board including radio, TV, and commercial ads displayed during games.”
With the new scoreboard and video screen being coupled together more eyes will be on the display and sponsor logos will be highly visible giving them maximum exposure throughout the games.
“I think the scoreboard exposure is great,” said Dr. Reece Blincoe, Brownwood ISD Superintendent. “I didn’t want it to stop there though. We want to give our partners on this project a great range of marketing packages to choose from and provide options for any business that is interested in this great opportunity to support our community and our kids at Brownwood ISD.”
A variety of sporting events are held at the stadium including Brownwood football, soccer, and track, the Bluebonnet Relays Track Invitational, Howard Payne University football games, and many high school playoff games booked from surrounding communities. These events not only prove to supply a wide audience for sponsors, but they also bring additional dollars to Brownwood in the form of motel and hotel stays, dining, and sales tax.
Those who have attended games held at Gordon Wood Stadium in recent months may have noticed problems with the current video screen system. The increasing problems with the display prompted the new scoreboard endeavor that Brownwood ISD is hoping to fund through the sponsorships.
“We would be able to pay for this board in five years and Daktronics will tell you that it should last a minimum of ten years,” Blincoe said at a recent school board meeting. Blincoe added that after the initial five-years, any money generated by the scoreboard could be used to offset the cost of replacing the field and the track.
Businesses that are interested in any level of sponsorship on the scoreboard are encouraged to attend the meeting on the 29th. The informational meeting will include a presentation of the proposed scoreboard designs and planned advertising packages. Participants will be able to ask questions, review the planned contract signing period and deadline, and give their thoughts on the project. Representatives from Daktronics will also be available to field specific questions about the scoreboard.
The Nov. 29th meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. and will be held in the Dr. Don Martin Executive Board Room located in the BISD Administration Office, 2707 Southside Drive. For additional information contact Brownwood ISD at (325) 643-5644.
