The Brownwood Independent School District has been on a roll with award announcements this week.
Another announcement coming from BISD this week is for being awarded a grant from the Texas Education Agency. Brownwood, in partnership with Mason, San Saba, and Ballinger, received the T3 Collaborative Grant as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment act.
The total grant awarded was $1 million with $300,000 going to Brownwood ISD. The purpose of this grant is to implement programs that use educational technology to improve both teaching and learning.
BISD will use this new grant money to purchase laptops for the 5th and 6th grade teachers at Brownwood Intermediate School. The money will also go to purchase multiple computer carts for use in classrooms at the campus.
Brownwood Superintendent, Reece Blincoe said, “This money will also pay for summer workshops for teachers of all grade levels to continue to increase their expertise in using the computers as a teaching tool.”
The grant period for this money is October 1st, 2009-September 30, 2011.
