Brownwood ISD Deputy Superintendent, Kevin Gabaree and his wife Lisa won first place in a dance competition that was a part of the “Night of Glitz and Glam”, an annual gala held by Brownwood American Heart Association on Saturday, March 3 at the Brownwood Country Club.
Brownwood ISD was one of three school districts that participated in the fundraising event that also included Keith Taylor and Sherry Clark, representing Early ISD and Bill and Linda Foster, representing Bangs ISD.“I was called by Meldina Mitchell and asked if Lisa and I would do it and during a very weak moment, I said yes,” joked Gabaree, adding that preparing and competing proved to be quite a challenge. “It was tough remembering the moves, getting my body to do the moves, and getting over the soreness.”
It was announced that just under $1000 was raised by the three districts combined, and Gabaree and his wife were selected as the champion dancers for receiving over $500 in total contributions. “We had fun, but it was very intimidating dancing and competing in front of all the people,” Gabaree said. “I want to say thank you to all those who donated to the American Heart Association.”
