BISD Press Release – January is School Board Recognition Month and Brownwood ISD (BISD) will join other districts across the state to thank these local leaders for their dedication and willingness to serve as advocates for our children and public schools. As elected officials, they are the voice of their communities, serving first and foremost in the best interest of Texas schoolchildren.
“The Brownwood community has chosen Board members they trust to shoulder critical responsibilities and often make difficult choices. We are making a special effort in January to show appreciation to our board members, but their many contributions reflect a year-round, unpaid commitment,” said BISD Superintendent, Dr. Joe Young. “Their ultimate goal is always focused on the future success of the children in our district. As we strive to continually improve, our board members provide vision and leadership in their roles as advocates and stewards. They will continue to hold me and our district accountable for what makes Brownwood ISD most proud: its students.”
Brownwood ISD benefits from the many hours contributed by these local citizens who work without pay. Serving as a crucial link between the community and classroom, this board is responsible for an annual budget of $32.4 million, 3677 students, 505 employees, and 8 campuses.
“Please take a moment to tell our members ‘thank you’ for giving so much to our Brownwood students and staff,” stated Dr. Young.
