Brownwood ISD approved the purchase of two school buses at their meeting regular school board meeting Monday night.
According to BISD Deputy Superintendent Kevin Gabaree, the district needed two more buses that will be used to transport students to activities that take place within the district. The buses are used, 2013 models and are in “like new” condition according to Gabaree.
After advertising for two school buses, the district received one proposal from All Aboard for the two buses at a cost of $65,000 each. One of the buses has 49,000 miles and the other 50,000.
“In the past we have gone out and purchased one new bus each year, which is about $95,000, so getting two almost new buses for $65,000 a piece we feel is a very good bargain,” said Gabaree.A unanimous vote by the school board approved the purchase which the district had budgeted funds.
In other matters on the agenda:
*All requested fundraisers were approved by the board of trustees.
*The board certified that the four trustees who had filed for election, had unexpired terms and were unopposed candidates. The board then approved cancelling the 2014 School Board Election which had been scheduled for November 4, 2014.
