Press Release – The 2nd Annual Brownwood ISD Holiday Card Contest has a winner! This year, Brownwood High School Senior, Haleigh Clevenger, has designed the official card for Brownwood ISD.  Ms. Clevenger’s artwork was selected from more than 30 entries in the contest.

Begun in 2016, Dr. Joe Young instituted the contest to highlight the talent of Brownwood ISD students, while creatively sending out holiday wishes from Brownwood ISD personnel.  “Each year, I am awed by the talents of the students within the District.  I am so glad that I don’t have the singular task of choosing the winning design.  The competition is tough.  We use our team of BISD administrators and our Board of Trustees to vote on the selection.  The artwork with the most votes cast is our design for that year’s Christmas card.”

Each member of the District’s Leadership and Learning committee, as well as the members of the Board of Trustees, cast individual votes after reviewing each entry.  Each year, students from each campus are encouraged to enter the contest by producing an original piece of art for consideration.  Each campus then chooses five designs as finalists to be considered in the voting process.

Ms. Clevenger is an Art IV student in Ms. Kimberly Van Huss’s art program at Brownwood High School.  Brownwood ISD would like to thank all of the participants in this year’s contest and congratulate Ms. Clevenger on her creative and humorous design for this year’s card.
