Billy Jack Salas, Sr., age 67, of Coleman, died Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Recital of the Holy Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2019 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.
Billy Jack was born September 19, 1952 in Fort Collins, Colorado to Frank Salas and Maria Luisa Zendejas Salas. He was raised in Coleman and attended school in Coleman. Billy Jack worked at various jobs at a young age. In 1968, he married Stella Rosalez. They were married for 30 years and had three children, Tina, Alex and B.J. During these years, he started working at Dry Manufacturing and worked there for 20 years. Billy Jack then married Linda Acosta. They had two children, Alejandro and Catrina. He raised his stepson, Sergio Acosta, since he was a toddler. Billy Jack loved to fish and hunt.
Billy Jack is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Frances Alvarado; seven brothers, Phillip Salas, Johnny Salas, Mack Salas, Pete Salas, Alex Salas, Richard Salas, and Charles Salas.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Salas of Coleman; his children, Alejandro Salas of Coleman, Catrina Salas of Coleman; Sergio Acosta of Coleman, Tina Salas of Coleman; Alejandra Salas of Abilene, B.J. Salas, Jr., of Abilene; brother, Robert Salas and wife Rosa of Breckenridge; sisters, Mary Escobar and husband Pedro San Juan of Santa Anna, Evelyn Calvillo and husband Tony of Coleman; grandchildren, Ashland, Rene, Alexa, Payton, Phillip, Sienna, Sophia, Simon; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Salas, Pete Salas III, Don Salas, Mickey Salas, Mark Salas, Chris Perez, Cruz Perez, Jr., and Billy Jack Salas, Jr.
