Bill passed away at a nursing facility in Early, TX on October 18, 2012.  He was born January 23, 1940 in Roxton, TX to William Henry and Synthia Claire (Turner) Jones.  He was the fourth of five children.  He graduated from Cotulla High School in 1958 and went on to graduate from Stephen F. Austin University where he met the love of his life, Donna Lee Croft.  They were married on May 26, 1962 in Ft. Worth and eventually settled at their home on 40 acres near Papalote.

He loved hunting and fishing and anything in nature.  Teaching was his career choice because he always loved young people.  He always said they made him feel young.  He was a business teacher and tennis coach.  Bill was also an inventor.  His ideas ranged from a boat that came into pieces so it could be carried in the back of his truck to a deer corn spreader that emptied out a hole in the floorboard of his brand new truck.  He loved his three grandchildren, who affectionately called him Poppie.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna; two brothers, Charlie and Bobby; his sister Myrtle, and sister-in-law Betty.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Ann of Early, TX and their daughters, Sydney, Julie, and Hannah Jones.  And also by a brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Deann of Refugio; mother-in-law, Bonnie Croft of Eastland; sister-in-law, Bonita Richards and husband, Dick of Ft. Worth; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Jones of San Antonio and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
