Funeral services for Billy Laird, age 80, of Early will be held at 4 PM, Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Netherton Funeral with Pastor Kelly Crenshaw officiating. Burial will follow at Ebony Cemetery under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home & Cremations. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at the funeral home. Mr. Laird died Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Billy was born January 6, 1932 in Bangs to Charlie (C.L.) and Bertha Mae (Underwood) Laird. He married Jean Reynolds in Brownwood on June 16, 1962. Billy served in the United States Navy, United States Army and the National Guard. He was a lifelong resident of Brown County and had retired from Sewalt Butane as a truck driver.
Those left behind to cherish his memories include his wife, Jean Laird of Early; children, Donna and Kelly Crenshaw of Early, Gary Laird of Brownwood, Larry Carr of Abilene, Harvey Laird, Billy Laird, Jr., Bobby Laird and Joey Laird; sister Ruth (Laird) Fine of Bangs; brother-in-law, Raymond Brucker of Brownwood; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C.L. and Bertha Laird, an infant sister Oretha Lee Laird and a sister Ruby (Laird) Brucker.
