Billy Morris Crowder of Winchell, Texas passed from this life on November 15th, 2019, leaving behind a legacy of generosity, love, and laughter.
Bill was born on June 14th, 1932 in San Angelo, Texas, the only child of M. D. Crowder and wife Mildred Miller Crowder. He graduated from Central High School, in San Angelo and later attended San Angelo College. Bill served in the United States Marine Corps as a Sergeant in the Korean War.
After serving his country, he worked and managed the family ranch for over 50 years. He retired from the Lazy B Ranch at the age of 80. Bill served his community well. He was a fire fighter and President of the Winchell Volunteer Fire Department for nearly 20 years, a charter member and Secretary/Treasurer of Brookesmith Water Supply for 40 years and served on various boards and commissions including McCullough County Coop, Brown County Farm Service Agency and Brookesmith Independent School District. Bill was also a founding member of the Brookesmith Baptist Church.
On November 15th, 1986 Bill married the love of his life Sharon Reynolds Crowder and celebrated 33 great years of happiness.
Bill had a great sense of humor that served him well all his life. He always had a great story to tell. Bill deeply loved his family. He had a tender and compassionate heart that was known by everyone. Bill was a real patriot, and was proud to serve his country. Many days he could be seen sporting his favorite Marine cap. One of his favorite past times was visiting Winstar, playing games, and enjoying the great food.
Bill is proceeded in death by his parents, M. D. Crowder and Mildred Crowder Bond, and brother Eddie Jack Bond. He is survived by his loving wife Sharon Crowder, and brother James H. Bond and wife Margaret, and sister-in-law Betty Bond. He is also survived by his son Mark Crowder and wife Kathy of Brownwood, Texas; daughter Judy Parker and husband Scott of Lubbock, Texas; daughter Deborah Russell and husband Randy of Allen, Texas. Grandchildren Brandon Crowder, Stephen Crowder, Sarah Crowder; Lindsey Lewis, Lauren Parker, Travis Parker; Evan Barger, Will Russell, and Matt Russell; and many nieces and nephews and loving friends.
As we mourn our husband, father, grandfather, and friend we celebrate his love for life, generosity, and sense of humor. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Davis-Morris Funeral Home, with a visitation on Sunday, November 24, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m., and the funeral services at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2019. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park.
