Funeral services for Billy Joe Whaley, Sr. age 76, of Early, will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 18, 2013 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Rocky Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5:00 until 7:00.
Mr. Whaley died Friday, February 15, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.
Bill was born on April 28, 1936 in Carbon to Thomas and Willie (Monroe) Whaley. He was an avid bass fisherman and a member of the Bass Club. He coached Little League Baseball and enjoyed sports in general. He was an “occasional” gambler and loved to play dominos.
Bill had been a resident of the area since 1966. He worked for 3M Company for 35+ years before retiring.
Bill is survived by a daughter, Jolyn Knight and husband Jerry of Early; two sons, Bill Whaley, Jr. and wife Sue of Eastland and Jeffery Whaley and wife Theresa of Edmond, Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and five sisters.
