Billy Harlow Brown passed away on April 4, 2013. Services for Bill will be held at Davis Morris Funeral Home on Saturday, April 6, at 2 PM with visitation on Friday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Billy was born on October 29, 1930 to Blonnie Edna Knox and Grayson Sim Brown. He graduated from Brownwood High School and was married to Linda Gail Fonville on July 22, 1950. They had one son and 3 daughters.
Billy was a lifetime resident of Brownwood and a member of the First Christian Church. He retired from the Texas Highway Department with 30 years of service and retired from the National Guard of Texas with approximately 42 years of service.
Billy was a 32 Degree Master Mason who had received his 50 year award and a member of the Brownwood Lodge #279. He was Shriner and a member of the Eastern Star with his wife Linda. Billy was also a member of Senior Friends, Emaus
Billy lived a full life doing many things including hunting, fishing, collecting old knives, old lures, coins, guns, arrow heads and antiques. Billy spent his retirement years going to auctions and volunteering for Meals on Wheels and Good Samaritans. He was an excellent marksman. He shot for many years in the under age 30 group while he was over 60. He traded the Grand Champion Trophy with a friend every year. In his early 70’s he got his license to carry a concealed handgun.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Grayson and Blonnie Brown, his wife, Linda Brown, and infant son, Terry Lynn Brown.
His is survived by 3 daughters, Nancy and Darrell Moore of Brownwood, Patricia and Brad Lancaster of Lampasas, Kathy and Alan Washington of Lometa; 1 sister, Knoxie Gore, of Brownsville; 7 grandchildren, Jeanie Keith, Teya Maples, Jule Radle, Landon Roberts, Amanda Eason, Jacob Gibson and Fawnda Piner; 16 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
