CarterFuneral services for Billy Lynn Carter will be Monday, February 24, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Early First Baptist Church.  With Rev. Eddie Ailshie officiating.  Interment will follow at the Jordan Springs Cemetery Brown County, Texas.  Visitation will be Sunday at Heartland Funeral Home Early, Texas.

Billy passed away Friday evening at Oakridge Manor in Brownwood.  He was born July 20, 1944 in Sweetwater, Texas to Edd and Lucille Stuart Carter.  He graduated high school from Roby, Texas in 1962.  On January 4, 1964 Billy and Loretta Cave were married at Hobbs, Texas.  He was a member of Early First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Royal Ambassador Director, taught Sunday School and Training Union.  Billy was very involved in church mission work, serving in Monclova and Saltillo, Mexico.  He helped build a church in Elko, Nevada.  He helped with the clean-up efforts after hurricane Katrina in Louisiana.

Billy was a member of the Brownwood Band Boosters.  He was a member of the Pecan Valley Kiwanis, where he served as President.  His hobbies were gardening, hunting, and working in his wood shop.  Billy was a carpenter by trade.  He is survived by his wife of fifty years Loretta Carter of Brownwood, three sons; Randall and wife Karen Marie Carter of Stephenville, Texas, Darren and wife Karen Sue Carter of Franklin, Texas, and Barry and wife Tasha Carter of Brownwood, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Shelby and husband Cody Cornell, Becca Carter, Hagen Carter all of Stephenville, Texas, J.C. Carter of Buckley, Washington, Alice Carter, and Wade Carter of Brownwood, Texas.  His brothers; Chick and wife Sherry Carter of Abilene, Texas, Harold and wife Melissa Carter of Oenaville, Texas, and Neil and Ruth Carter of Daleville, Alabama.  Numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Edd and Lucille Carter and a sister-in-law Jane Carter.
